OPG / Lat Ceph
An Orthopantomogram (OPG) is a panoramic dental x-ray scan of the upper and lower jaw, teeth and maxillary sinus.
The OPG unit is specifically designed to rotate around the patient’s head during the scan. The scan takes approximately 15 seconds and creates a two-dimensional view from ear to ear.
A Lateral Cephalogram is a scan of the side of a patient’s face with very precise positioning to determine the relationship of the top and bottom jaw (maxilla and mandible) to assess the nature of a patient’s bite.
They may be requested simultaneously or individually by your doctor or dentist to identify possible:
- Fractures
- Dislocations
- Infections
- Dentition
- Surgical Planning
