Do I need to make an appointment?
X-Ray | CT | OPG | DEXA Bone Density - walk-in service (NO APPOINTMENT required)
All other studies require appointments; especially all Ultrasounds, Injections, Biopsies, Mammograms, MRI etc.
How early do I need to arrive?
Do I need to bring previous images and reports?
Do I need to fast?
There are fasting requirements for the following examinations:
- CT/MRI Scans - if IV and/or oral contrast are indicated, please fast for at least 2 hours prior to the scan.
- Ultrasound Abdomen - 8 hours full-fast (no food or drinks) prior to the exam.
- Doppler Aorta- 8 hours full-fast (no food or drinks) prior to the exam.
- Renal Artery - 8 hours full-fast (no food or drinks) prior to the exam.
How much water do I drink?
- US Pelvis - full bladder produces clear images of pelvic anatomy.
- US Obstetric Scan up to 30 weeks - full bladder produces clear images of your pelvic anatomy.
- US Renal - full bladder produces clear images of Renal anatomy.
Do I need a new referral for multiple scans?
- If there are 2 scans on the same referral both scans need to be performed before 7 days from the first scan is done.
- If there are 2 scans on the same referral, both scans need to be performed at the same Radiology Practice.
Does South West Radiology have a patient portal?
How long does it take for my doctor to receive the report?
Your doctor will receive the report within 24 hours for most studies. Some complex studies may require additional time (up to 48 hours) to report however you will be informed prior to leaving the clinic.

Yes, we perform 2D/3D scans using state of the art equipment at our Wetherill Park clinic.

Do I need to stop medications before a spinal injection?
Do I need to stop medications before a joint injection?
To minimise the risk of bleeding, we recommend that you stop taking anti-coagulation or anti-platelet (blood-thinning) medication 5 DAYS PRIOR to your scheduled exam.
We advise all our patients to consult your GP and/or Physician prior to formally ceasing any medication.
Do I need to stop medications before a bursa injection?
Due to the superficial nature of bursa injections, we DO NOT recommend that you need to stop any medications.

Do I need to stop medications before a biopsy?
To minimise the risk of bleeding, we recommend that you stop taking anti-coagulation or anti-platelet (blood-thinning) medication 5 DAYS PRIOR to your scheduled exam.
