Our Promise
100% Bulk-Billing*

We are committed to providing affordable medical imaging and diagnostic services to our patients in South West Sydney. We bulk-bill the following services and procedures in Casula, NSW:

1) CT Scans

2) Digital X-Rays
3) Ultrasounds
4) Injections
5) Biopsies
6) Eligible MRIs are bulk-billed according to Medicare guidelines

CT Scans

Capturing images of the body using low-dose x-rays, computed tomography scans produce detailed cross-sectional views. Scans are taken in thin sections, capturing data about all internal structures in the body including bone, blood vessels, and soft tissue.

These scanned sections are then compiled by a computer and reconstructed into a comprehensive cross-section of the patient’s body. CT scans can be used to:

1) Diagnose trauma, injury, or disease
2) Assist in surgery planning
3) Assess certain parts of the body

Digital X-Rays

Also known as radiographs, a digital X-Ray is captured by passing low levels of radiation through the patient’s body. Due to the higher density, bone absorbs a higher proportion of radiation compared to the softer tissues. The resulting image shows bones in white while soft tissues, such as organs, appear grey. Since air doesn’t absorb radiation it remains black on an X-Ray.

MRI Scans

Located at our Campbelltown clinic, our MRI scanner uses a combination of magnetic fields and radio wave pulses to produce detailed images. You will be asked to lie on a padded bed, which slides into the open-ended tube of the MRI machine in order to take the scan.

The scan itself is non-invasive but can be quite noisy. Headphones/earphones will be provided for the procedure as well as access to our movie & music collection.

Radiologists will be able to see and talk to patients throughout the duration of the scan.

Ultrasounds

Using sound waves generated by a hand-held device known as a transducer, an ultrasound produces an image showing the inside of the body. Conducted by our highly-trained sonographers, ultrasounds are a non-invasive scan that can be performed on both adults and children.

Common procedures include abdominal, pelvic, and Obstetric ultrasounds. Obstetric ultrasounds are used to check on the progress of pregnancies and the health of unborn children.

Dental Scans

To assist with surgical planning or identifying potential fractures, infections, and dislocations, South West Radiology offers two varieties of dental scan.

An Orthopantomogram (OPG) is a panoramic X-Ray in which a scanner rotates around the head, capturing a two-dimensional image of the upper jaw, lower jaw, mouth, and teeth.

A Lateral Cephalogram involves scanning the side of the face in order to assess the nature of a patient’s bite.

Procedures & Injections

At South West Radiology, our specialists offer a range of bulk-billed injections and procedures. These include musculoskeletal injections, spinal injections, image-guided biopsies, and image-guided core biopsies.

1) Musculoskeletal: range of injections used primarily to treat pain, often utilised alongside diagnostic imaging such as CT scans or ultrasounds.

2) Spinal: deliver pain-relieving medications directly into certain areas of the spine.

3) Fine Needle Biopsy: using a thin needle, cells are removed from the area under assessment, then reviewed by a qualified pathologist.
